Recreation

Talkeetna is an attraction all its own. On a clear day, there is no place on earth like it. I cannot begin to count the times we have been to this incredible place. We have been known several times to wake up early on a clear summer morning and say “Let’s head for Talkeetna!" When Denali is visible, it simply cannot be put into words the incredible beauty of this mountain. If you want to find out for yourselves, there is really only one way to do it, and that’s by going on a flight seeing tour. We tell everyone, "You truly have not seen Alaska until you go on a flight seeing tour over Denali Park". No one does this better than Talkeetna Air Taxi. We highly recommend that if you do nothing else during your stay with us, that you go on one of their flights. Their planes and service are the greatest, and they always do their best to make sure your flight is unforgettable. Also, be sure to walk around "downtown" Talkeetna and check out the unique shops and sites.

Independence Mine State Historical Park

If you like history and hiking, why not combine the two? Independence Mine at Hatcher Pass. It's handy, within a 20 minute drive. We snow machine there a lot in the winter, the scenery is spectacular, and the coffee's always on at the Mine office. Check it out here .

Matanuska Glacier

Matanuska Glacier is a must see. It's one of the few Glaciers that you can see up close and personal. It can easily be done in a day. Check it out here..

Castle Mountain Outfitters

If you want to see Alaska on horseback, Castle Mountain Outfitters can't be beat. These people know two things. Alaska and horses. They are fantastic. They have several different trail rides to choose from, and you can check them out here.

Fishing

At Heaven and Earth, we look very closely at businesses before we recommend them. A fishing guide was no exception. We didn't want to just recommend someone without knowing for sure that they were going to deliver on three important things. I always look for reliability, integrity, and value. Pat Donelson and Howard Riley fit the bill perfectly. I knew Pat Donelson from some church events that I attended but it wasn't until I talked to him at an Outdoors and Sportsman’s show in Wasilla that I found out that he owned his own Guide service. That was all I needed to know. This ended my search for a great fishing guide. Without question these guys are the only choice for a day or more of great fishing. Enough said. Check them out here.

Miscellaneous
There is so much to do around the valley; there simply isn't enough space to list them all. So we will just post some links for you and let you click away! We can fill you in some more when you get here!!
